The quintessential essence of men’s design harkens to the timelessness of plaid, leather, moody colors, and of course, BOURBON! Think old world Scotland or the English countryside. Quiet nights by the fire, chatting about life and yes… sipping on bourbon. Ralph Lauren has always been and will continue to be the American standard in timeless heritage and sophistication. Where did we begin?
Choose a theme or color for your design. Color drenching with a moody black paint on the walls, ceilings and cabinets helps to create a cozy and comfortable space. The art lent way to the fabric choices that were chosen for the draperies, pillows and velvet chairs; allowing all to coordinate and complement one another to achieve the desired look we knew the client would love.
Adding timeless details. Nothing is prettier or more timeless than molding, and a great way to add architectural detail to your walls. Picture frame molding was added to all the walls creating visual interest and depth. The custom cabinetry houses lovely crystal glassware, a multitude of drink concoctions and several different types of bourbon, all with its own appeal. Adding brass wire grills to the cabinet panels, gives the room texture, while slightly mixing metals. The knobs and pulls are classic reeded French antique brass and the counters are marble, of course- timeless!
Lighting, lighting and more lighting. Adding different layers of lighting enhances not only the mood of a room but helps create warmth, albeit reading, having a nightcap, game playing or simply watching television. We made sure this room had it all-beautiful chandelier, sconces, lamps and cabinet lighting- ready for whatever mood or task is at hand.
Furnishings. Always timeless! Who wants to make big expensive changes every year? Chesterfield sofas have been around for centuries! We paired it with green velvet roll armchairs, mercury glass drink tables, classic wood storage and portable ottomans. All standing the test of time.
Fabrics. Warm leathers, soft velvets and classic plaids reflect the nostalgia of the quintessential Ralph Lauren way of living.
Antiquities. Bring on the history! Whether it be a rug, a special family heirloom, a treasured antique purchased while traveling, or art passed down from previous generations, these items create a sense of individuality in a room. Racing trophies from the owner’s childhood, along with an antique rug purchased while at market, provides sentimental meaning and timeless appeal in this space.
No matter the reason behind the design of a room, we believe these elements should be in the driver’s seat. Color - whether neutral or bright, timeless design, classic materials and furnishings, with a sprinkling of antiques will enhance a room’s appeal for years to come.
